It is with great pleasure we at Newmarket Music announce the forth coming self-titled debut album ”SHOL”.

The founding members of SHOL, Chris Skepper - trumpet & flugelhorn and Andrew Harrison - piano & keyboards, started as a duo in 2006 to explore and perform their original compositions ranging from free form improvisation to world music and soundtrack scores.

As the music evolved they brought in Chris Lewis - drums & percussion to add rhythmic texture and solid groove; then John O’Hagan - double bass, joined to add and extend the harmony; and Chris Pappas - tenor & saxophone, being the newest addition, further expanding the frontline sound.

All members of SHOL are composers, contributing their electric influences from the varied music they have performed over 20 or so years. The music has its roots in the band member’s first love of hard bop and free jazz to world music, soul funk grooves, free form through composed mood altering themes.

This uniquely Australian ensemble’s debut album “SHOL” explores a range of emotions and sounds, distilled through the musicians’ hearts and minds, creating aesthetic melodic themes and bold improvisations.

The music on the album takes you on a journey, exploring melodies, moods and rhythms through SHOL’s unique ensemble sound. Sit Back and enjoy the ride..!
